Together, We Can Sack Summer Hunger!
Summer Hunger In Manatee County
Did you know 60% of school-aged kids in Manatee benefit from free or reduced priced meals at school? The Food Bank of Manatee needs support from our community to help provide meals to food insecure children during the summer months. As the donations decrease and the demand for food increases, summer is the most critical time of the year to keep the shelves of The Food Bank stocked. This year, the “Sack Summer Hunger” campaign will help bridge that hunger gap by distributing 1,000 weekend food sacks for kids for 9 weeks starting June 9th, 2017 through August 4th
Each Weekend Food Sack Contains:
- 2 Breakfasts
- 2 Lunches
- 2 Dinners
- 2 Snacks
- 2 Fruits
- 2 Juices
Where To Pick Up Food Bags?
Manatee kids can pick up their weekend bags at any Manatee County library branch or The Food Bank will be following the Kids Eat Free bus to Bradenton Village off of US 301 (11:30 – 12:00pm), South East High School in Bradenton (12:30 – 1:00pm), and Lincoln Park in Palmetto (1:30 – 2:30pm).
The Food Bank has also partnered with The Bradenton Housing Authority – 5631 11th Street East, Bradenton, The 13th Avenue Dream Community Center – 922 24th Street East, Bradenton, and Just For Girls – 1011 21st Street East, Bradenton.
